Bryan High Color Guard wins WGI Austin Regional

The Bryan High JV & Varsity Color Guard competed in the recent Winter Guard International Austin Regional at Lehman HS. Due to qualifying requirements for the State Championship, the Vikings' JV had to compete against all Varsity level teams. The JV team had a great performance and a good outcome despite the skilled level of competition.

The Varsity team won their preliminary round of competition and were   the highest scoring group for prelims out of 30 teams from all over Texas,  which  automatically advanced them to finals.
Director Marie DeBellis said, "It gives me great pride and excitement to share that after their finals
performance, the Bryan HS Varsity Color Guard brought home the 1st place trophy and are the WGI Austin Regional Scholastic A Champions. Bryan HS has consistently advanced to the finals competition, which is a huge deal in itself in Texas, but this is the first win at a Regional competition. Not only are they
at the top of Texas in their division, but currently have the top score in the nation by 2 points. Because of this finish they are automatically reviewed for promotion into the next classification- which we will find out about this week.

The students are entering the last month of the competitive season, which leads to the Texas Color Guard Circuit State Championships, hosted by Bryan High at Reed Arena on March 29-30.
