Seven Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) from Bryan ISD competed in the Area II Spring Leadership Conference at John Reagan High School in Houston recently. The students are enrolled at the Hammond-Oliver Health Sciences Academy, a program that focuses on health and medical career training.
Six students earned medals and will advance to the TexasHOSA State Leadership Competition in San Antonio later this month:
• Mollie VanBoskirk (12th, Hammond-Oliver and BHS) - 2nd place, Pharmacology
• Holly Smith (12th, Hammond-Oliver and BHS) and Matt Miller (11th, BHS) - 1st place, First Aid/CPR team
• Ariana Martinez (11th, Hammond-Oliver and BHS) and Beth Barnes (11th, Hammond-Oliver and RHS) - 3rd place, First Aid/CPR team
• Fatima Scott (11th, Hammond-Oliver and RHS) - 2nd place, Researched Persuasive Speaking
Alex Magby (12th, BHS), Casie Jackson (12th, BHS) and Chelsy Stubblefield (11th, Hammond-Oliver and RHS) also qualified for area competition. The students were sponsored by Erin Wright and Jessica McNeal, of Hammond-Oliver Health Sciences Academy.
